SUNDAY OF HOPE
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. announced St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its National Philanthropic Partner. St. Jude has one of the largest pediatric sickle cell research and treatment programs in the world. St. Jude is the first known hospital in the world to cure sickle cell disease through bone marrow transplantation. Today, bone marrow transplantation still offers the only cure for sickle cell disease.
The Sunday of Hope program was developed by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as a way for members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. to support St. Jude. Sunday of Hope allows churches across the country to unite as a body of believers to help children suffering from cancer, sickle cell and other catastrophic diseases.
Sunday of Hope events take place January through April in churches nationwide. During one select service, Kappa Alpha Psi members address their congregations and ask for a special offering for St. Jude. Kappa Alpha Psi has raised nearly $800,000 for the kids of St. Jude through Sunday of Hope and other fundraising endeavors.
Sunday of Hope is vital to continuing the lifesaving work taking place at St. Jude. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family's inability to pay. St. Jude also provides transportation costs and local living expenses during treatment for the patient and one parent, and assists with meal costs. With operating costs at $1.5 million a day, the children and families of St. Jude need your help.
